January 2009
It is freakin’ WINDY out there.
The next hour will be devoted to watching stupid TV and deadening my brain. Court shows, here I come!
Fox 5 DC typo’ed “Alexandria” and ABC 7 quoted Wikipedia… local news has gone down the tubes.
December 2008
Ugh. Woke up with a nasty stomach bug that came out of nowhere.
This stomach thing is taking me out with a lead pipe to the knees. Can I have a few minutes of peace this week?
It’s funny how a sip of water tastes so good after a day of sports drink and flat ginger ale.
Finally off to bed. That early morning run ain’t gonna happen.
I did not plan on being up at 1:15am on a vacation day working.
Me: “Rasine, is Daddy an old lady?” Rasine: “Yes. Daddy OLLLLLLLLLLLD lady.”
Feeling frustrated that this week off isn’t really going to be a *real* week off (ie. work is seeping into my vacation time).
Back home after a nice holiday in NJ. And I don’t go back to work until Friday!
A little something I wrote showed up on Anti-Racist Parent last week: http://tinyurl.com/9etbkd
Working on my big year-end “best music of 2008” post. And I don’t care if everyone else has already posted theirs.
Had a nice Wigilia (look it up) with see-once-a-year fam. Now, wrap a couple of final things and off to bed.
Also, when there are 4 kids getting gifts, there are a lot of freaking presents under the tree. (And we left most of ours for R at home!)
Still working, even though my vacation started 5 hours ago.
Wow — Christmas-themed hip-hop that’s not completely corny! http://tinyurl.com/8an3f5

Huh. I would have thought this tea would be stale by now…
Going down to 9 degrees tonight! Sadly, looks like Christmas Day will be warm and rainy.

19 degrees and the windchill *just* got into the double digits. This is some winter…
Had a long, persistent dream last night about my laptop being stolen after @frykitty had first stolen my car.
Homemade pot pie for dinner, Christmas Eve on Sesame Street after, and now just keeping out of the bitter cold.
Made a big ol’ batch of pancakes this morning. Those and coffee are driving me through this need-to-be-productive afternoon.
Currently listening to some Christmas reggae: http://tinyurl.com/4ebyv2
The formula for every Christmas reggae song ever: take a holiday classic, and add heavy basslines and a weed reference.
Really digging the new custom podcast option from NPR.
Not really feeling up for this today. Bed would be a nice place to be right now.
Shouts to @troyblog for posting this classic Roots freestyle session: http://tinyurl.com/6nq95q
I find myself having to mess with a super-old web technology today: XSSI. Ain’t nothing like migrating sites I developed 10 years ago.
My voice is starting to fade.

Apparently, that was a LOT of chili (Sweet Potato Lentil Chili by Dreena Burton, specifically) I ate for lunch. I’m about to pop.
Was hoping to be winding down before the holiday break, but instead, things are getting about ten times busier.
Going with 70s/80s Italian soundtracks for the hectic workday ahead. Fabio Frizzi, Riz Ortolani, Goblin, & Franco Micalizzi: let’s do this.
Trying to get drops for my mix CD and almost nobody’s responding…
Oh man… the shoes I wanted at @zappos just jumped $6 (>10%) in price since I had the page open yesterday! Rethinking…
